I believe that the information provided is correct. But all is offered as "use at your own risk"

Mitac

Getac's Mitac division has been the ODM laptop supplier for many companies, past and present, including AMS Tech,  Chembook, Brick, EnPower, Hyperdata, Jetta (Jetbook), MaxStation, Trogon and many others.

Today, Mitac is still producing new laptops. I believe Jetta & Mediabook are Mitac's two USA distribtors that are selling Mitac at this time.

I've read that Dell has been reported to be offering contracts to Mitac to produce computers for them - I don't know if they will be Dell laptops or desktop computers

For some Mitac laptops models a special "boot block" device that is needed to program or recover from a bad BIOS reflashing job -- see Mitac BIOS Recovery link to the left.

My advice is don't update a BIOS in one of these machines unless:

1) You are willing to spend about $200 to recover from a blown flash job.

2) Don't need to use the laptop for about 60 days while getting it repaired.

3) Or are willing to replace the laptop if you can't wait for repairs.
